Last week, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit working a methamphetamine case in Old Monroe received information during the investigation that 26-year-old Robert Bertels, of Moscow Mills, may be selling meth.
Investigators contacted Robert Bertels and arranged to purchase $350 worth of meth from him along the 100 block of Maple Shade, in Old Monroe. Within a few minutes, Bertels arrived at the location and was taken into custody. The search of his backpack revealed methamphetamine.
Based on the arrest information received, narcotic investigators then received a search warrant for Robert’s sister’s residence along the 700 block of East Port Au Prince Ln, in Moscow Mills. When investigators arrived, they spoke to 25-year-old Danielle Bertels, of Moscow Mills, and presented the search warrant.
Investigators found two infants in the east bedroom along with methamphetamine and syringe. Other syringes and drug paraphernalia were also seized from the residence. The infants were taken into protective custody and placed in the care of a family member.
Robert Bertels is charged with felony Delivery of a Controlled Substance and is currently housed in the Lincoln County Jail under a $20,000 cash only bond. Other conditions of bond may apply.
Danielle Bertels is charged with felony Possession of a Controlled Substance, unlawful Possession of a Drug Paraphernalia and two counts of 2nd Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child and is currently housed in the Lincoln County Jail under a $15,000 cash only bond. Other conditions of bond may apply.
