During the morning of May 12, 2016, investigators with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office began investigating a stealing along the first block of Bickel Hollow Road, in unincorporated Lincoln County. According to the property owner, he noticed the front gate of the property he was working on unbolted propped open.
Upon entered the property, the victim noticed his 2001 Ford F-350, a hitched trailer with his $32,000.00 stump cutter and about $5,000.00 in tools missing.
Later that morning, investigators received a tip that 37-year-old Dennis Lee Koenig, Jr., was spotted driving the truck with the trailer and equipment along Highway 79, near Winfield. During the course of the investigation, Koenig had taken employment with a landscaping company out of Ferguson, Missouri, and was using the equipment as his own.
The victim told detectives Koenig had previously worked for him and his employment ended negatively when he thought he was stealing from him.
Detectives recovered the truck, trailer, stump grinder and most of the equipment late last week in St. Charles County.
This morning investigators located Koenig and took him into custody for the property theft. Koenig refused to speak with detectives about the incident.
The investigation is ongoing.
Koenig is charged with Felony Receiving Stolen Property and is currently housed in the Lincoln County Jail under a $35,000.00 cash only bond. Other conditions of bond may apply.
