During the morning of Monday, September 2, deputies were dispatched to the 400 block of North Fifth Street, in Elsberry, for shots fired.

According to the victim a white male knocked on her front door around 7:20 a.m. and told the victim he was looking for his iPhone 8. The victim told the male she had not seen a phone but told him he could look for it in the public alley behind their residence but to stay off the property due to her canines.

The male’s GMC truck was parked in front of the victim’s home along Fifth Street.

After speaking with the male, the victim called law enforcement. While on speaking with emergency dispatchers, the male again knocked on the door but the victim did not answer it.

The male walked back to the truck, took out a handgun, fired it toward the residence and drove off.

Deputies were able to identify the suspect as 26-year-old Tyler Dahmer, of Elsberry.  Dahmer agreed to turn himself in on Wednesday.  During his interview, Dahmer told detectives he got extremely intoxicated with his girlfriend on the Sunday prior in Pike County. Dahmer said got into an altercation with her and left the residence.  As he left, he discharged two .45 caliber Ruger Handgun rounds into the ground near her driveway.

Dahmer went on to say he was looking for a friend’s lost iPhone and the coordinates came back to the victim’s residence in Elsberry.  While there, he became upset with the victim when she told him the iPhone was not there.

Dahmer said he returned to the truck and fired a single .45 caliber round into the air from the driver’s side window toward the victim’s home.

The Sheriff’s Office recovered the handgun from his grandfather’s home in St. Charles County and recovered a spent shell casing from within the GMC truck.

Dahmer has a criminal history involving unlawful use of weapons.

Prosecutors charged Dahmer with felony Unlawful Use of a Weapon and he is currently housed in the Lincoln County Jail.  Honorable Judge Greg Allsberry set bond at $20,000 cash only.  Other conditions of bond may apply.
