Over the weekend, detectives with the Multi-County Narcotics and Violent Crime Enforcement Unit were dispatched to the 300 block of Merle, in Troy, in reference to a suspected overdose where the victim died.
Detectives searched the victim’s cellular phone and found several messages between him and 39-year-old Lance Brown, of Overland. The phone’s messages were consistent with someone attempting to purchase illegal narcotics.
Using that phone, detectives texted Brown and asked to meet in Troy to purchase narcotics. Brown agreed to meet at a Troy food establishment. Brown arrived in a Chevrolet Cruz with a juvenile located in a back passenger seat. Detectives closed on the vehicle and arrested Brown.
Investigators found a plastic baggie that tested positive for Fentanyl, an Oxycodone pill and a marijuana joint. Brown admitted to detectives he was in Troy to sell “heroin.”
The male juvenile was taken into protective custody.
Brown is charged with felony Delivery of a Controlled Substance, Possession of a Controlled Substance and felony Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Brown is currently housed in the Lincoln County Jail under a $100,000 cash only bond. Other conditions of bond may apply.
