LINCOLN COUNTY BURGLARY SUSPECT IN CUSTODY

On May 26, 2016, investigators with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office began investigating a burglary along the 1500 block of Braungardt Lane, in unincorporated Lincoln County.

According to the victim, a chainsaw, cordless drills and other power equipment was taken from his outbuilding. Witnesses said they observed 29-year-old, Wade T Braungardt, of Moscow Mills, in the area recently and felt he may be responsible for the burglary.

Investigators interviewed Braungardt who admitted to entering the outbuilding and taking the tools. Braungardt told investigators he sold the equipment to 36-year-old, Mark Sumpter, at his residence along the 200 block of Frenchman’s Bluff, in Lincoln County.

Investigators responded to Sumpter’s residence and recovered the stolen items from the property’s outbuilding where they were stored. Investigators also recovered a 2002 Honda motorcycle stolen out of St. Charles County.

Sumpter told investigators he purchased the tools from Braungardt for $50.00. Investigators learned Braungardt stole Honda motorcycle and he brought it to Sumpter’s residence to work on it. Sumpter admitted to painting the motorcycle black.

Braungardt is charged with Second Degree Burglary and felony Stealing and is currently housed in the Lincoln County Jail under a $10,000.00 cash only bond. Other conditions of bond may apply.

Sumpter is charged with felony Receiving Stolen Property and was released from the Lincoln County Jail after posting a $10,000 cash or 10% surety bond. Other conditions of bond may apply.
