Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office began investigating a possible sexual assault after receiving a call from Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital they were treating a girl less than 10 years old for Gonorrhea and Chlamydia.
Investigators learned the victim had contact with Lavonte Baldwin who was recently treated for Chlamydia and was also suspected of having Gonorrhea. Baldwin told medical examiners the victim may have contracted the disease inadvertently through contact with his bed sheets.
Investigators explained it was impossible to contract Chlamydia through bed sheets. Baldwin then attempted to say the victim contracted the disease from a toilet or bathtub. County investigators refuted his claims and said the disease could only be passed through sexual contact.
Baldwin admitted to fondling the victim for sexual gratification.
Baldwin is currently charged with two-counts of Felony Statutory Sodomy in the First Degree. He is currently housed at the Lincoln County Jail under a $250,000 cash only bond and no contact with the victim.
