LINCOLN COUNTY MAN DISCHARGES HANDGUN IN TRAILER, STRIKES ANOTHER

John Harris

During the late hours of May 29, 2015, deputies responded to the first block of Blue Bunting Circle, in Lincoln County, for a possible assault involving a firearm.

Upon arriving, the victim told deputies he was struck in the left leg by a bullet while he was walking to a back bedroom. The bullet did not penetrate the victim’s leg and was recovered from the residence.

Deputies were able to determine the bullet came from a next door neighbor’s trailer and made contact with 53-year old, John Christopher Harris. Harris told deputies while racking his Beretta 9MM handgun, it discharged, going through his trailer into his neighbor’s trailer.

Harris told investigators he had been drinking alcohol all day and took his prescribed dose Zanax that evening. Harris was ultimately arrested and charged with felony Unlawful Use of a Weapon while intoxicated and is currently held in the Lincoln County Jail under a $25,000 cash only bond. Other conditions of bond may apply.

Additional charges are expected in this case.
