Lincoln County Sheriff’s Detective Involved in Near Fatal Accident

On July 19, 2011, Detective Michael Huffman, 38, of O’Fallon, was off-duty and traveling eastbound on Highway 40 near Winghaven Boulevard when his 2002 Ford Expedition was struck from the rear by a 2005 Cadillac driven by a white female, 26, of Wright City. Both vehicles traveled off the road after the crash about 7:10 p.m.

Huffman, was ejected from his vehicle as it overturned. The other driver was not.

Huffman was transported by St. Charles County ambulance to St. John’s Mercy Medical Center, where he is listed in serious condition with multiple injuries, including internal injuries.

Huffman is expected to spend weeks hospitalized. Currently monetary donations can be dropped off at the Sheriff’s Office. Checks should be made out to the Mike Huffman Foundation and will go toward medical expenses and to assist the Huffman family, who will be spending a lot of time at the hospital.
