The Sheriff’s Office participate in the first ever St. Louis Day on the Runway at Lambert International Airport to support Missouri Special Olympics this month. Sheriff’s Office employees teamed up with Clayton and Warrenton Police Departments to pull a commercial airplane along a frigid flight line at Lambert International Airport one Saturday morning. The team pulled the plane in record time, placing Fourth overall!  Together, they raised over $1,600 for Special Olympics Missouri, which supports area Special Olympic athletes within our community.  This year’s event was a great success after 10 months of planning, collaboration and preparation with area law enforcement agencies, Missouri Special Olympics and Lambert Airport employees.

Deputy Sierra Turley, Deputy Joel Fann Sr., Deputy Joel Fann Jr., Detective Zach Tunison, and Sheriff’s Office employee Robin Bayless all participated. Deputy Sierra Turley also participated a 5K fun run on the runway with over 800 other Missouri runners!

St. Louis Day on the Runway was a great cause for Special Olympics and the Sheriff’s Office looks forward to next year.
