SURVEILLANCE FOOTAGE LEADS TO BURGLARY ARREST

On October 22, 2019, detectives with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office began investigating a home burglary along the 200 block of Highway H, in Lincoln County.  According to the homeowners, someone entered their home and stole a handgun and a framed autographed $100 bill hanging on the wall.

Detectives requested surveillance footage of a business located near the home.  Detectives observed, 43-year-old Kashan Byrd, of Troy, pulled onto the driveway and made entry into the residence.  On November 19, 2019, Kashan responded to the Sheriff’s Office after detectives were able to make contact with him.

According to Byrd, the home belongs to an extended family member and he went there to use the bathroom without permission. Byrd eventually admitted to making entry into the residence where he stole the handgun and the autographed $100 bill.

Byrd told investigators he no longer knew the location of the handgun.

Byrd was found guilty in February 1997 for First Degree Robbery and in April 2001 he was found guilty for Second Degree Burglary.

Lincoln County Prosecutors charged Byrd with Felony Second Degree Burglary, Felony Stealing a Firearm and Felony Unlawful Possession of a Firearm. Byrd is currently housed in the Lincoln County Jail where Honorable Judge Jim Beck set bond at $20,000 cash only.  Other conditions of bond may apply.
