To The Citizens Of Lincoln County

Dear Citizens of Lincoln County,

I would like to take a moment to thank the citizens of Lincoln County for their continued support and assistance in the apprehension of individuals involved in committing horrific crimes. I made a promise to have my office door open to the community and afford different and unique ways of communication. With the use of Social Media and anonymous tipping through the Sheriff’s Office website, we have identified and apprehended more criminals than I can remember in any other way.

You expect the Sheriff’s Office to arrest and hold accountable those who commit crimes in our community, but without your support we may not have been as successful. As many of you, I grew up locally and was raised by a family who believes in always standing up for each other and accountability. As your Sheriff, my values remain the same. I will stand up for those who have been victimized and hold those who elect to make bad choices over good citizenship accountable.

I believe using Social Media to deliver information with regard to departmental and community matters is important to keep concerned citizens and taxpayers to be informed with facts. Furthermore, it provides the residents of this county with a communications platform to reach my office without having to go through a phone tree.

As Edmund Burke once said: “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men should do nothing.” As a citizen and the Sheriff of Lincoln County I thank you on your community spirit and bravery to stand out above most and assist the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office in investigations that matter to the community.

Thank you, again, for all of the support and information you all have provided our Office. Together we are able to do more and have a greater, positive impact on our county. If I or the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office can ever be of assistance to you, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Thank you,

John Cottle
Sheriff
Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office
