TRIO OF SEX OFFENDERS CHARGED FOR FAILING TO REGISTER

This week, detectives with the Lincoln County Sex Offender Compliant Unit charged three Lincoln County Sex Offenders for failure to register.

Registered Sex Offender, Douglas Eugene Smith, of Lincoln County, was found guilty of Child Pornography on July 14, 2003, in Alton, IL, and failed to register within his 90-day requirement this month per the Revised Statutes of Missouri.

Registered Sex Offender, Amy Elizabeth Lang, of Lincoln County, was found guilty of Statutory Rape (2nd Degree) and Statutory Sodomy (2nd Degree) on September 25, 2006, in St. Charles County. Lang failed to register within her 90-day requirement.

Registered Sex Offender, Brian Michael Burroughs, of Winfield, was found guilty of Possession of Child Pornography on March 25, 2004, in the United States District Court in the Eastern District of Missouri. Burroughs failed to register within his 90-day requirement.

Lincoln County has a 98.8% sex offender compliance rate compared to Missouri’s overall rate of 92%.

Smith and Burroughs are charged with Felony Failure to Register as a Sex Offender and both area currently housed in the Lincoln Jail under a $10,000 cash only bonds. Other conditions of bond may apply.

Lang is charged with Felony Failure to Register as a Sex Offender and has posted a $1,500 cash only or 10% surety bond. She was released from the Lincoln County Jail.
