TROY MAN ARRESTED FOR VEHICLE TAMPERING AND METH

In early May, detectives with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office began investigating a string of stealings and burglaries occurring within the county.  By mid-May, detectives developed a residential lead that took them to the first block of Halls Holler Lane, in Lincoln County.

When detectives arrived, they observed a male and female run from a white Ford truck to the residence.  The female arrived at the residence first and closed the door locking out the male.

The male was identified as 39-year-old Vennie Dowell, of Troy.  Dowell told detectives he was driving the Ford truck which was reported stolen out of St. Charles in April.  Dowell also had a small amount of methamphetamine on him.

Dowell was taken into custody and transported to the Lincoln County Jail.

In early August, deputies took a report of a stolen Ford F-250 along the 1700 block of Highway B, in Lincoln County.

On September 4, investigators started surveillance on the suspected stolen vehicle along the 500 block of Mary Rd, in Lincoln County.  Investigators observed Dowell get into the vehicle and drive away.  The vehicle was subsequently pulled over and a computer check revealed the truck was stolen from the Highway B residence in August.  Dowell was taken into custody.

During an interview, Dowell told deputies, “You caught me with another stolen truck.” Dowell also told investigators he painted the truck in an attempt to conceal its identity.

From May, Dowell was charged with felony Tampering With Motor Vehicle – 1st Degree, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia under a $20,000 cash only bond.

Dowell received an additional felony Tampering With Motor Vehicle – 1st Degree and is currently housed in the Lincoln County Jail under an added $50,000 cash only bond with no contact with the victim. Other conditions of bond may apply.
