While on routine patrol along Highway B, in northeast Lincoln County, Deputy Ryan Parker observed a bunch of kids around a massive homemade slip and slide constructed on a steep hill.
Never missing a chance to stop and talk with Lincoln County youth, Deputy Parker parked his patrol vehicle and cheer the kids on as they slipped down the embankment. It was not long before the kids talked Deputy Parker in going down the slide himself.
“It looked fun and it was hot out so I decided to take them up on their offer,” said Deputy Parker. Parker removed his duty belt, radio and took off his shoes and headed down with the kids. “The first time I went down my uniform was dry, making it difficult to slide but the second time was a BLAST,” said Parker.
After a few turns down the slide Deputy Parker allowed the kids to sit in his car and active the lights and sirens. “We had a good time and I made a few more friends. I really enjoy our community and look forward to crashing other slip and slide party (said laughingly),” said Parker.
