Burt, James 2016

Sheriff John Cottle is asked the Lincoln County community for help in locating absconded sex offender, 48-year-old James Leslie Burt, of Troy.

In March 2011, Burt was convicted of First Degree Child Molestation of a female victim under the age of 14 in Lincoln County. After completing his prison sentence, Burt registered as a sex offender with the Sheriff’s Office in June 2016.

After failing to register on July 11, 2016, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Sex Offender Compliance Unit conducted a check of Burt’s residence to learn he moved to an unknown location.

Burt’s last known mode of transportation is a bicycle and is possibly still living in the Troy area. The Sheriff’s Office currently has a warrant for his arrest.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of James Leslie Burt is encouraged to call the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office at 636-528-6100 or Detective Flynn at 636-528-8546 Ex. 3247.
