History of LCSO

Lincoln County was founded on December 14, 1818 and named for Benjamin Lincoln, a Major General during the American Revolutionary War. Lincoln County is one of 114 counties in the state of Missouri. Lincoln County has approximately 630 square miles of land and 10 square miles of water. We are bordered by Pike County to the north, St. Charles County to the southeast, Warren County to the southwest, Montgomery County to the west and our eastern border is the Mississippi River. Lincoln County is part of the St. Louis Metro area. The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office is a fully integrated law enforcement agency committed to being the leader in establishing the standards for providing professional quality law enforcement, detention, and support services to the citizens and visitors of Lincoln County. We hold ourselves accountable for all of our actions, while taking pride in our professional level of service. We provide these services with honesty, integrity, professionalism, and dedication. This site has been created as a public service for anyone who is interested in the operations and services of the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office. It is my pleasure to present the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Five-Year Strategic Plan. Its purpose is to help the organization do a better job and get everyone working together to achieve our goals. This plan will serve as a roadmap for moving from where we are today to where we would like to be in the future. It will help keep the organization on track, and responsive to change while remaining faithful to its mission, vision, and core values.
