William Emerson

In April 2016, detectives with St. Charles County Cyber Crimes Task Force and Missouri Internet Crimes Against Children began an investigation after receiving a complaint from Chippewa Falls Police Department, in Wisconsin, that 51-year-old William M. Emerson was attempting to sexually entice a 10-year-old female over Facebook while living in Lincoln County.

Detectives took over the victim’s Facebook chat and purported to be the 10-year-old victim. Four times detectives told Emerson the victim’s age; however, he continued to “chat” with the victim and eventually professed his love for her.

Emerson advised the victim to delete their “chats” so not to get caught and even sent a picture of himself. In June 2016, Emerson said he would drive to Wisconsin to pick up the victim and have sex.

Emerson was arrested on a traffic stop in Lincoln County on February 12, 2017. His address is listed as the 100 block of South Walker Road, in Gideon, MO, but had recently moved back to Lincoln County.

Emerson is charged with felony Attempted Enticement of a Child and felony Use of Child in Sexual Performance. He is currently held in the Lincoln County Jail under a $100,000 cash only bond. Other conditions of bond may apply.
