John Stover

On February 22, 2017, detectives with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office began investigating a possible child rape case after the victim’s father found handwritten notes from 37-year-old, John Lance Stover, of Lincoln County, which disclosed inappropriate sexual contact of a female victim under the age of 14-years-old.

According to a forensic interview of the victim, Stover would provide the minor with alcohol and marijuana in a home he stayed in along the first block of Edgewood Court, in Troy. The victim disclosed Stover had sexual intercourse on several occasions.

Detectives located and interviewed Stover who said he had not seen with the victim for approximately three-years. Stover also admitted to having sexual intercourse with the victim knowing she was a minor.

Stover was taken into custody and charged with two felony counts of First Degree Statutory Rape. Stover is currently housed in the Lincoln County Jail under a $100,000 cash only bond with no contact with the victim or family. In addition, Stover cannot have unsupervised contact with anyone under the age of 17-years-old. Other conditions of bond may apply.
