Suspect Charged in Stabbing of 68-Year-Old Man in Hawk Point

On Monday, March 7, 2011, at approximately 5:30 pm, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputies along with Hawk Point Police Officers responded to the 800 block of Washington Street in Hawk Point, MO for a disturbance. Upon arrival deputies discovered 68-year-old Elbert Asher with multiple stab wounds to his head and neck area. Asher was transported to St. John’s Mercy Medical Center where he is currently in critical condition. The suspect arrested in the incident is 48-year-old Joey Roberts.

Deputies believe Asher and Roberts were at the residence together when the two became engaged in a verbal argument. The argument concluded when Roberts pulled a knife and began stabbing Asher several times. Roberts is currently being held at the Lincoln County Jail in lieu of a $100,000 cash only bond.
